Negative CO2 Emissions for Transportation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Negative emission technologies have recently received increasing attention due to climate change and global warming. One among them is bioenergy with carbon capture storage (BECCS), but the process very energy intensive. Here, a novel pathway introduced, based on second-generation biofuels followed by circulation in an indefinitely closed chain, effectively resulting sink. Instead of using energy-intensive conventional CCS process, application on-board solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) running electric vehicle (FCEV) could result negative emissions capturing concentrated stream CO 2 , which readily stored second tank. A recovery system at station then takes from tank be transported locations or used for local applications such as -based concrete curing synthesis e-fuels. Incorporating utilization into FCEVs-SOFC can close loop, achieving neutrality through feeding reverse-logistic methanol plant. The produced also SOFCs, leading infinite repetition this cycle till saturation stage reached. It determined will reach typical Cradle-to-Grave 0.515 ton per vehicle, total 138 Mt all passenger cars EU potentially achievable. All steps comprise known medium high technology readiness level (TRL) levels, so principally applied mid-term.

Transportation Fuel from Coal with Low Co2 Emissions

We present energy and carbon balances and cost estimates based on detailed Aspen Plus process simulations for five plant designs to co-produce dimethyl ether (DME) and electricity from coal. Four of the designs include capture of CO2 for long-term underground storage. We also illustrate the potential DME offers for reducing emissions by facilitating a shift to more energy-efficient vehicles.

Negative CO2 emissions via enhanced silicate weathering in coastal environments

Negative emission technologies (NETs) target the removal of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, and are being actively investigated as a strategy to limit global warming to within the 1.5-2°C targets of the 2015 UN climate agreement. Enhanced silicate weathering (ESW) proposes to exploit the natural process of mineral weathering for the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. Here, we discuss...

The Impact of Petroleum Product Intensity, Gasoil consumption and GDP on CO2 Emissions in Transportation Sector of Iran

The present study, in addition to investigating the impacts of GDP and gasoil consumption as the biggest consumed petroleum product in Iranian transportation sector, by introducing petroleum product intensity, studied their effects on CO2 emission in this sector.  To evaluate the impact of the variables, we estimated an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model between the years 1996 and 201...

Trends in CO2 Emissions from China-Oriented International Marine Transportation Activities and Policy Implications

The demand for marine transportation and its associated CO2 emissions are growing rapidly as a result of increasing international trade and economic growth. An activity-based approach is developed for forecasting CO2 emissions from the China-oriented international seaborne trade sector. To accurately estimate the aggregated emissions, CO2 emissions are calculated individually for five categorie...

China's transportation energy consumption and CO2 emissions from a global perspective

Rapidly growing energy demand from China's transportation sector in the last two decades have raised concerns over national energy security, local air pollution, and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and there is broad consensus that China's transportation sector will continue to grow in the coming decades. This paper explores the future development of China's transportation sector in terms of se...
